Boycotting Sats tests

Head teachers have
announced plans to boycott
Sats tests duo to be taken by
primary school children in
England next month. Mick
Brookes, of the National
Association of Head
Teachers, said the protest
was against a 'flawed
testing regime". Teachers
say the Sats arc disruptive,
and are misused to compile
"meaningless" league
tables. However, they were
careful to stress that the
plans are not for strikes:
schools will remain open
from 10 to 13 May, when the
tests are due to take place.
